Vortex Crashes the Bell Lightbox

The Entertainment District will be swamped by Canada’s Silicon Valley.

This year, the Vortex Videogame Conference is being held at the TIFF Bell Lightbox. The venue will host the emerging entrepreneurs of the game industry as well as industry professionals. They’ll be there to network, find the best new marketing techniques or simply to show off their skills.

“There are lots of jobs in the game industry, but without a network, the door remains closed,” says Sari Ruda, Managing Director of Vortex. “At the Vortex Conference, if you don’t have a development team, you find one, and if you’ve got one you can take the next step towards developing your product.”

The Conference will include seminars by experienced industry professionals. This year, we are pleased to feature Nir Zahavi of We can Pretend. Mr. Nahavi’s viral video, ‘Find Makarov,’ debuted at the Game Developer’s Conference and received 1.7 million views within 24 hours. There’s also a heavy emphasis on networking, with events for industry professionals and hopefuls to meet and connect.

Attendees will be able to:

  • Develop professionally: This year’s Conference is proud to announce that the speaker’s list will include developers of major games. We’ve talked them into sharing their secrets.

  • Form a network: Participants will be able to meet dozens of other emerging creators.

  • Pitch themselves: In years past, attendees have been hired by studios who spoke at Vortex. Our speakers are always searching carefully for tomorrow’s industry stars.

“If you’re a recent graduate or a new professional, breaking into the business is tough,” continued Ruda. “You need contacts. That’s where we come in. We make the introductions. Then, you make the magic.”
